Thermax-a key player in the HVAC market in Iran

In the recent years Thermax has found success in selling its absorption chiller/heaters in the Iranian markets. Iran is home to large reserves of natural gas and the urban areas have developed gas supplied infrastructure. FACTS ABOUT IRAN

  1. Iran has the third largest oil reserves and the world’s largest natural gas reserves in the world.

  2. Iran is one of the leading members of OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) and the organization of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF).

  3. Natural gas and oil consumption both account for about half of Iran’s domestic energy consumption. With its heavy dependence on oil and gas revenues Iran continues to explore for new sources of natural gas and oil.

  4. Iran has become self-sufficient in designing, building and operating dams and power plants and it has won a good number of international bids in competition with foreign firms.

THERMAX FOOTPRINTS IN IRAN

Thermax being a technology driven engineering company was able to establish a strong foothold in the Iranian market. Customers have turned to Thermax to meet their cooling and heating requirements. Thermax made its entry into the Iranian market about five years ago.

Today, Thermax has more than 100 chiller installations in Iran.

MAJOR BREAKTHROUGHS

Some of the most noteworthy installations include the installation of two 600 TR absorption chiller in the Novotel Hotel just opposite the Tehran Airport.

Also, Thermax recently bagged an order from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Iran for five direct fired chillers of different capacities. This is a major breakthrough for the industrial sector in Iran. The National Iranian Oil Company, a government-owned corporation under the direction of the Ministry of Petroleum of Iran, is an oil and natural gas producer and distributor headquartered in Tehran. These chillers will be used for comfort cooling application

SHIFT TOWARDS TRIGENERATION

In recent years there has been a trend of Iranian customers now moving to Trigeneration owing to the growing awareness to promote energy efficiency. Even the Iranian government has been encouraging of this switch by providing sanctions and subsidiaries.

Trigeneration, referred to as Combined Heating, Cooling and Power (CHCP), is an efficient energy conversion technology which offers several merits, including fuel consumption saving, CO2 emission abatement and reduced expenses.

IRAN-MARKET WATCH

With the increase in national and international investments, the Iranian construction industry has grown so much in the past few years becoming the largest in the Middle East. Driven by a growing, young population as well as increased government spending on building an infrastructure projects, the HVAC sector’s growth outlook in the region is becoming more optimistic and is expected to gain momentum in the near future due to an ease on economic sanctions and an increase in demand.
