Mukund Ranade a member of (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) was elevated to the position of ‘ASHRAE Fellow’. Ranade, a former Thermax employee is currently working as a consultant with RTIC. He has been a member of ASHRAE since 1991. He has received this honour from the ASHRAE Board of Directors based on the recommendation of the Honours and Awards Committee for original work in the field of Absorption Chillers.
Ranade, who has been associated with Thermax for more than 30 years, was a core member involved in setting up of absorption technology in Thermax. He was actively involved in Thermax’s collaboration with Sanyo of Japan for vapour absorption machines and was instrumental in spreading this technology and creating awareness about it. Apart from this, he was independently involved in developing variations and new product designs in absorption chillers which were path-breaking.
Ranade shares that being a member of ASHRAE has allowed him to connect locally, regionally and internationally with members present in over 170 chapters worldwide and facilitate healthy dialogues, discussions and idea exchange with members concerned with HVAC&R.
ASHRAE which was founded in 1894, is the premier international body in the HVAC&R field and has more than 50000 members worldwide. The mission of ASHRAE is to advance the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and related human factors to serve the evolving needs of the public and ASHRAE members. It is the foremost and authoritative source of technical and educational information, standards and guidelines. In recognition of this honour, Ranade will receive a plaque with a mounted medallion and a lapel pin at the ASHRAE’s 2016 Winter Conference in Orlando,Florida to be held on January 23, 2016.
Ranade, is a very respectable person in the fraternity of HVAC&R and this recognition is a great achievement not only for him but also for Thermax of which he has been an integral part.
